As a rule, if you are installing a hot tub, it's usually put outside.  In our last article, we covered making sure you have a firm base for it, but what about a way to get to it?  Do you have a path around your hot tub and leading to it?  And not just any path, a path that someone can conceivably walk on barefoot?  A lot of time people aren't as cautious as they should be with the paving stones they create.  Concrete is fine, however, you don't want it too rough.  Otherwise you're going to be wincing as you step on it.  You also want a clear path that will cut down on the debris that will end up in the hot tub.  While it is possible to do it later, doing it before hand makes the transition easier.  Now you have a way to it, what is your hot tub going to rest on?
If you have  at least a week or maybe even two before you get your hot tub delivered,  concrete is an ideal solution for the hot tub base. It  won't be cheap, but it will add value to your property. A reinforced concrete base at minimum should be 4 inches thick and be able to support a ton or more of weight.

How Long After I Pour My Concrete Before I install a Hot Tub?

First off, check the weather report.  You do not want to put any concrete down if there is a chance of rain or high humidity.  Otherwise, your concrete will take a lot longer to dry, and you run the risk of cracking it.  Once the concrete is dry, and cured, then you want to probably seal your concrete to prevent water damage.  Then you can install your hot tub at that time.
So remember, preparing for a hot tub is almost as important as purchasing one.  If you have any questions, get on the phone to your hot tub dealer in Glendale.
