Hot Tub Accessories:  The Difference Between a Hot Tub and a HOT TUB

A hot tub is a relatively elemental gadget.  Some acrylic, some hot water, and a few controls.  That's a hot tub.  A HOT TUB on the other hand is in a class all by itself.  If it's in your budget, make sure that you add a package of hot tub accessories such as a spa surround.  A spa surround makes your hot tub look like it is a mineral spring up in the mountains somewhere.
While we're on the subject of hot tub accessories, make sure you add a UV sanitizing system to your hot tub.  UV sanitizing helps to reduce your usage of harmful chemicals to sanitize your hot tub.  May not be as flashy as a hot tub stereo system or LED lights that change color, but it is definitely functional.  Much like hot tub steps or hot tub filters.  You may not think of the importance of hot tub filters, for example, but having a few extras around is probably a good idea.

Buying a Fully Loaded Hot Tub:  Prepare to Be Surprised

We know what you're thinking.  You're thinking that you can't afford it.  A fully loaded hot tub will break your bank account.   However, you may be surprised.  A pre-owned hot tub for example can be as much as 60% off the price of a brand new one.   And if you're with the right hot tub dealer in Chandler, they will have a checklist just like this one:
  • Heater-checked and replaced if necessary
  • Pump seals-Checked for leaks and replaced if necessary.
  • Plumbing-checked for glue joint leaks
  • Jets-checked to see if they’re working properly and are clean
  • Shell-checked for cracks or blistering
  • Filters-All pre-owned spas come with new filters
  • Structure-We make sure that the spa is structurally sound
  • Cover-Pre-owned spas come with a new matching cover
  • Top Side Control-We make sure all buttons work properly
  • Circuit Boards-Verified to make sure all are working and that there are no burnt areas
  • Pillows-Replaced if needed.
  • Lighting-Check all LED lights and/or main light bulbs
So when you're ready to buy, talk to your dealer.  Make sure that you buy a hot tub that is a perfect fit for you and your life, with the accessories to match.

Owning a Hot Tub in Phoenix

During the Arizona summer, which is obviously our high temperature season, its important to follow a
few small steps to prevent your spa from overheating. It is common for fully insulated spas to creep up in temperature in warmer climates, despite your heater being turned off.
  1. Prop your cover open.  Place a towel or a small piece of foam between your cover
and your shell. This will allow some of the heat to escape your
spa. Only one side should be enough at about an 1" opening.
  2. Set filtration during cooler parts of the day.
The heat your pump generates takes a big part in "thermal creep".
Simply set your filtration to night time and early mornings.
NOTE: Make sure your spa is not running for more that the
recommended time cycles of 2 hours every 12 hours.
  3. Keep your air control(s) on the "On" position.
Opening up the air controls will allow air to be passed though your
water lines, which will help keep your spa vented.
Remember that these steps are only necessary during
warmer parts of the year. As temperatures go down,
you may return to normal operation.
Hot tub care and maintenance is important year round, however, in summer, you have additional steps that you're going to have to take as described above.  There are however, more things that you will have to be aware of.

Hot Tub Maintenance: Final Thoughts

First off, another reason why hot tub overheating can be a concern is the fact that you can evaporate your water.  If you use a UV sanitizing system on your spa, the chemical residue will be minimal, however,if you are using a traditional chemical-based system, it will leave a large amount of chemical residue behind which can irritate your lungs and your skin.
So keep your hot tub in good working order, as after all it is an investment.  Make sure you ventilate it properly during the summer months to keep it from overheating.  Clean it once or twice a year or as needed.  Keep your cover on when you're not using your hot tub.
Follow the care instructions that are part of your materials that were given to you when you bought your tub, and when in doubt, call your hot tub dealer in Phoenix for more information.

What is a UV Sanitizing System and How Does it Work?

Your hot tub can be a dangerous place where bacteria and other harmful organisms are concerned.
UV sanitizing system is a system which uses UV(ultra violet) light to treat water and eliminate any chemicals or bacteria. Ultra violet light had been discovered almost a century ago and over the years it has been used as a proven method to kill bacteria, algae and organic chemicals. It is also used by various waste treatment plants to neutralize harmful chemicals before releasing them. In fact UV based treatment systems are also used to make water potable for consumption.
Ultraviolet lamps are one of best ways to treat water which is contaminated with chemicals and bacteria. This is because the wavelength of light can oxidize with a wide variety of chemicals to neutralize them and it can also render bacteria ineffective by zapping them with high electromagnetic energy. It has also been known to destroy a variety of organic chemicals and harmful chlorine byproducts. Overall ultraviolet sanitation systems have been a huge breakthrough in making water safer for everyone.

What About Hot Tubs with UV Sanitizing?

The success of UV based water treatment hasn't gone unnoticed by hot tub makers. Many reputed makers are switching over to providing hot tub sanitation systems in the form of UV lamps. These lamps are designed to work in small environments and cover each area of the tub so that the water inside stays clean. They are also designed to withstand high temperatures present in tubs. Various manufacturers also sell UV sanitizer systems separately so that households which have hot tubs already or need a replacement can buy one.
All in all, warm water therapy really does work, it helps you relieve your stress and feel fresh. However traditional hot tubs can get contaminated pretty easily causing a wide variety of infections and allergies. The idea of a getting ill due to a tub meant for reliving stress really doesn't bode well and thus it is our strong recommendation to all buyers to insist on UV sanitized hot tubs. Ultra violet light has been known in the past to eliminate chemical and bacterial contamination. And apart from being efficient, it's cheap, especially if you consider the fact that one little investment can protect you from the skyrocketing healthcare bills. So protect yourself and your loved ones and make the right choice of ordering UV sanitized hot tubs.
