Health and Well-Being:  Improved Circulation Vs. a Sedentary Lifestyle

Improved circulation is one of the many health benefits of using a hot tub.  It is imperative for a long and healthy life to be physically active and improve your circulation.  A sedentary lifestyle on the other hand is a slow spiral towards poor health, unhappiness and health problems such as obesity, stiffness, and lack of circulation.
In our last article, we covered some of the benefits of improved circulation, but here are some surprising ones.  First off, if your circulation is good, did you know that it can make you better able to handle a crisis when it comes up?  It can.  When  you exercise strenuously, it makes your heart pump faster.  This means that your arteries and veins dilate and blood flow improves significantly.  With properly oxygenated blood, endorphin production occurs in your body.  As your endorphin level rises, you are calm, and filled with a sense of well-being.  All very interesting, but what does this have to do with a hot tub?

Hot Tub Use Post Workout

After your workout, your muscles are going to ache and be very tired.  As a result of this, your body will be producing toxins not endorphins.  Later on in the day after you have recovered from your workout, your endorphin level will rise, however, if you use a hot tub, you will accelerate this process.  You will find yourself having a very large amount of energy that will last you throughout the day.  And if you exercise early in the day, when you get home, you will find that you are able to fall asleep faster and stay asleep.  A good night's sleep is one of the most important things that you can have for optimal health.  Using a hot tub is part of a healthy daily routine that will improve your circulation as well as your quality of life.
So remember, a healthy lifestyle is  important for a long and healthy life.  So get plenty of rest, eat healthy, and exercise regularly.  And after each and every workout, make sure that you fuel your body with lots of protein and complex carbohydrates.  Most importantly of all, spend a few minutes each day soaking in a hot tub.

Health Benefits of Improved Circulation

What are the health benefits of improved circulation? According to the site LIVESTRONG.COM "Blood circulation is an important part of your body's overall function and health. Your heart pumps blood through blood vessels within your circulatory system. Red blood cells have specific tasks of carrying oxygen to your body's vital organs, providing vitality and energy, explains the National Library of Medicine. When your vital organs and circulatory system work in unison, you have an adequate blood flow. An increase in blood flow or circulation in the body can help benefit the heart and the body's muscles and arteries throughout the body. Increased blood circulation improves oxygen rich blood flow to extremities. You may experience an increase in blood flow to vital organs when you improve oxygen levels in your blood by exercising muscles and working out. Working out your muscles and increasing your aerobic activity can help with blood circulation. Having an increase in blood flow and circulation to areas of your body helps promote cell growth and organ function. Your skin also benefits from an increase in blood circulation. Healthy skin is better able to fight off bacteria and infection that it may come in contact with. When your heart pumps at full force, your heart rate lowers, heart muscles relax and your blood pressure flows evenly and smoothly. Having increased blood circulation throughout your body will help you look and feel healthy. Your skin will have a healthy color and you will feel warm to the touch. Good blood circulation helps improve brain function and helps keep your mind sharp and focused. You will also be more equipped to handle stressful situations.[READ SOURCE ARTICLE]
Our last article covered the health benefits of using a hot tub, however as you see, they share similar benefits to exercise.  With a hot tub, however, there are even more benefits to consider than just exercise alone.  First off, there is the proven benefit of stress relief.

Why Stress Relief is Important

Stress has been repeatedly linked to serious health conditions such as hypertension, heart disease and a long list of other health problems.  While it is all but impossible to completely eliminate stress from your life, it is a good idea to minimize it when possible.  One way, which also ties into a post-workout regimen is to use a hot tub.

After a workout, your body will need several things.  It will need rest.  It will need water.  And it will need time in a tub to improve circulation.  So as you see, hot tubs can help after a workout.

Hot Tub Massage Therapy and Fibromyalgia

How can a hot tub help with fibromyalgia?  First off, you need to understand what fibromyalgia is.  According to the MAYO CLINIC website: "Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain processes pain signals. Symptoms sometimes begin after a physical trauma, surgery, infection or significant psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time with no single triggering event. Women are much more likely to develop fibromyalgia than are men. Many people who have fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and depression. While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, a variety of medications can help control symptoms. Exercise, relaxation and stress-reduction measures also may help. [READ MORE]
It's a fact, using a hot tub helps with pain relief.  Whether that pain is due to an injury, or a condition like fibromyalgia.  However, fibromyalgia is not the only health condition that a hot tub can help with.

Hot Tubs and Circulation

Hot tubs improve circulation.  The combination of heat, buoyancy, and massage all work together to allow better blood flow throughout your body. With better blood flow there is also better health.  That's one of the reasons exercise helps improve health.  It circulates older blood through the system and replenishes it.  Using a hot tub is not a substitute for exercise, mind you.  it is an add-on to exercise.  A post workout soak in a hot tub helps you minimize or even eliminate post-workout aches and pains, particularly on the next day.  Our next article series will explore these points further.  For now, know that finishing a workout with time in a hot tub is a great idea.
So consult a physician before beginning any sort of exercise program.  Eat healthy and get plenty of rest. And reduce stress in your life.  Improve your circulation in good ways, and pamper yourself whenever you can.  And one of the best ways you can help with a lot of this?  Buy a hot tub in Glendale.

Therapeutic Benefits of Hot Tub Massage Part 2

Part two of our series on hot tub massage therapy explores its effects on insomnia.
Hot Tub Massage Therapy Helps with Insomnia | 623-776-7727

What is Insomnia and What Causes It?

Sooner or later, we all get it: insomnia.  It is one of the most frustrating conditions to have.  Part of it is knowing that the rest of the world is asleep when you're wide awake and staring at the ceiling.  But what is insomnia and what causes it? According to the MAYO CLINIC WEBSITE: "nsomnia is a persistent disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep or both, despite the opportunity for adequate sleep. With insomnia, you usually awaken feeling unrefreshed, which takes a toll on your ability to function during the day. Insomnia can sap not only your energy level and mood but also your health, work performance and quality of life. How much sleep is enough varies from person to person. Most adults need seven to eight hours a night. Many adults experience insomnia at some point, but some people have long-term (chronic) insomnia. Insomnia may be the primary problem, or it may be secondary due to other causes, such as a disease or medication.
Insomnia symptoms may include:
Difficulty falling asleep at night
Awakening during the night
Awakening too early
Not feeling well rested after a night's sleep
Daytime tiredness or sleepiness
Irritability, depression or anxiety
Difficulty paying attention, focusing on tasks or remembering"

As adults, we need between 7-8 hours of sleep a night.  One of the best things you can do before bedtime is take active steps to relax.  One method is to spend some time in a hot tub and have at least 20 minutes of hot tub massage therapy.

How Can a Hot Tub Help With Insomnia?

How can a hot tub help with insomnia?  For one thing, massage therapy relieves stress.  However, there is more to it.  In our last article we covered the positive effects of heat and buoyancy, but there may be something deeper.  For example, if you sit in a hot tub and you're either listening to peaceful music or sitting silently, you go into an almost meditative state.  The part of us that is the hardest to relax, after all, isn't our bodies, it is our minds.

In a hot tub, however, as you relax, so does your mind.  As your mind relax, your body also relaxes further.  So that by the time you get into bed, you're deeply relaxed.  So there is more to hot tub massage therapy than you might think.

Stress Relief and a Hot Tub Massage

Even if you are someone who takes active steps to control it, sooner or later, you're going to stress out over something. Short-term stress is easily alleviated. Stacking, or unresolved stress, is a bit more serious. That's why you need an effective strategy for stress relief. That's where hot tub massage therapy comes in.
A lot of people think that massage only helps with muscles.  However, according to this article excerpt from the Mayo Clinic website: "Massage is generally considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. It's increasingly being offered along with standard treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations. Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension. While more research is needed to confirm the benefits of massage, some studies have found massage may also be helpful for:
  • Anxiety
  • Digestive disorders
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia related to stress
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Paresthesias and nerve pain
  • Soft tissue strains or injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Temporomandibular joint pain" [READ MORE]
Why does a hot tub help?  Well, it provides all of the benefits of massage therapy as well as buoyancy and heat, all of which help to relieve strain and tension on joints, tendons, and muscles.  As a result, you naturally start to relax.  And when you relax, stress dissipates significantly.
